Virtual Microscope - V-Scope


The V-Scope is a 3-D, interactive, research quality virtual microscope. It allows students to experience interactive and state-of-the art microscopy. Students using actual microscopes can also benefit from using the V-scope to assure they are viewing what their instructor intends them to see.

For those biology students who require microscopy practice, LabPaq provides good quality and affordable microscope equipment plus excellent prepared biological slides. Now, for those students who do not need practice using an actual microscope, a new option is available - the V-Scope.

Instructors can adopt Biology, Microbiology, and A&P LabPaqs with the microscopy option and related costs that best meets the needs of their students:

Microscope - Standard LabPaqs with traditional prepared tissue slides that require microscope equipment for viewing

V-Scope - LabPaqs with the new V-Scope software that includes computer images of tissue slides viewable at different powers of magnification

Microscope and V-Scope - LabPaqs with both actual tissue slides used with a microscope and the V-Scope software and virtual slides.

Students do not need to purchase a LabPaq to purchase a V-Scope so instructors can also adopt the V-Scope for use by their on-campus students.

The above pricing is for ala-carte purchase of the V-Scope application and slide image sets. When the V-Scope application and slide images are used in place of the prepared slides that would normally come in a standard LabPaq, there is no difference in the price of the LabPaq, and no additional charge for the V-Scope application. The main difference in this case is that the student would not have to purchase a microscope. This substitution needs to be carefully considered since in some LabPaqs the student is not only viewing prepared slides, but is also preparing slides to be viewed with a normal microscope.
